My career

Sandro Santantonio was born in Lecce in 1977 where he attended the Experimental Art School College. He moved to Milan, there he studied in Brera School of fine arts, where in 2000 he graduated with highest honours.

During the studies, he started working together with popular designers like Roberto Semprini, Guglielmo Berchicci, Prospero Rasulo, Giuseppe Viganò, Azzolini Tinuper, Marianelli Design and he took  part in national and international shows and exhibitions.

In 2004 he founded Sandro Santantonio Design, which is a working and studying group dedicated to the new ideology of Design, able to gather under an exclusive role numerous abilities that in a short while allow the Studio to expand considerably the customer fleet and the working experiences, collaborating with companies leaders in the furniture, lighting, interior design and fashion accessories fields.

In 2008 Sandro Santantonio was invited as guest by Architect Semprini in his design lessons in Brera Academy where, from 2009, he has been teaching industrial design. In 2008 he started the collaboration with the ISAD Institute of Milan, where he teaches product design.

His projects were exposed in many exhibitions and fairs in Italy, Switzerland, Germany, England, France, Monaco, United States, Russia, India, China and Japan.

Sandro Santantonio counts today numerous awards, such as the special mention Young&Design 2004 for the Flower chair, two special mentions Young&Design 2005 for the Dune sofas line  and the Zoe lamp collection , the special mention Young&Design 2006 for Wave table, the first award to the naval competition Abitare il Mare 2006 announced by the Seatec- Carrara Fiere, thanks to a cruise ship luxury cabin project, the special award Young&Design 2007 “for the project that better has identified innovative solutions in a logic of maximum simplicity” , won for the Trinity lamp collection, which has received  the mention to Compasso d’Oro in 2009. Moreover, ABC lamp produced for Prandina has been chosen in 2007 for Milano Love Design show, in 2008 to furnish the International Film Festival in Rome and in 2009 to the Oderzo award.

The Biennale of Venice has chosen the  Palace sofa designed for Casamania for its setting up. The

Muse lamp collection, designed for Axolight, has been recently exposed to the GUM Department Mebelissima in Russia organized by Mondadori, in 2010 he received the Good Design Award by the Chicago Athenaeum Museum and finally he received the mention for the Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany in 2011.

Great importance have the selection of some products for Pitti Image (selected by Cristina Morozzi) and for the brand PRADA,for events and fashion parade. TV programs like X-Factor, The Big Brother, Mai dire Goal, Buona Domenica, Trenta ore per la Vita, Miss Italia and spots like Venus and Clinians have  employed many objects designed by Sandro Santantonio.

He received several publications on the most important national and international magazines like Domus, Interni, Ottagono,Interior Design, Elle, Elle Decore, Dwell, Vogue, Abitare, GdA, Capital , HOME, Marie Claire Maison, Code, CasaD,CasaViva, Box, Abitare, DDN, Proyecto Contract, Modus, MD, Ambijrntr, Prestige Design, Compass-es, Designetal, Mondo,Suite, il Corriere della Sera, Dimore, La Repubblica, La Stampa, Il Sole 24 Ore, Spazio Casa, Capital, Raum und Wohnen,Maison & Ambiances, Donna & Benessere, Schoner Wohnen, Casa Y Jardin, Ait, Ideales heim, Emporium and more.
